The term 'selkie' derives from the Scots word for 'seal'. A selkie is a creature from Scottish and Irish folklore, often depicted as a seal in water but able to shed its skin to become human on land. Legend has it that selkies possess the ability to transform between seal and human form by donning or removing their sealskin. These mythical beings are often associated with tales of love, loss, and the mysterious allure of the sea. I believe the selkies' ability to traverse between vastly different worlds to be a compelling metaphor for my own work as a psychic medium. Additionally they add a touch of mystery and magic to everyday life. As someone with Scottish and Irish ancestry, selkie folklore holds a special place in my heritage. Also, I identify with the adorable, chubby seal aesthetic. ^_~
